He said it with such anger he didn't even try to soften his voice; but then again maybe some other emotion had been driving him. Maybe the fear that came from living on a spaceship where everyone was always afraid of something was also still there, waiting for its chance to break through into consciousness. His words were almost pleading. "If it is only me who dies here, won't my soul go out into eternity and then back down into hell? Why can't the dead just stay at home where they belong?" No one could say anything except what she herself had already said: She doesn't know. But why couldn't she or her dad die if they wanted to if Mom couldn't stay here?
